Black Lightning Season 2 Episode 4 - The Book of Consequences: Chapter 4 - Translucent Freak - Review

Black Lightning Season 2 Episode 4 - The Book of Consequences: Chapter 4 - Translucent Freak Review

Image result for black lightning season 2 episode 4 Black Lightning is another of the DC Comic Book shows that I watch, it has been going less time but I enjoyed the first season enough to give the 2nd season a chance. Though so far I haven't enjoyed the second season as much, but lets get to the review.

Positives

. I liked seeing a change of approach to Tobias Wale's character as he uses a different method to mess with Black Lightning and Jefferson Pierce as it becomes more personal which I felt was done pretty well.

. I also quite liked Lynn and the other scientist's conflict as it gives her more of an obstacle to overcome then just being a strict mother.

Negatives

. I felt like all the interactions between Jefferson and the new Principal were really forced. They came across as over the top and unrealistic just as a way to add some more conflict into the season.

. Jennifer is not an interesting character in my opinion, her issues feel lazy and the most irrelevant part of the show. Also I really just don't buy the chemistry between her and Khallil to care enough.

. Annisa has some issues with Jefferson in this episode and I felt like this issue is resolved incredibly quickly and it felt like the build up was unnecessary when you consider the payoff.

. The action scenes have not improved this season and actually seem to have become worse with very little threat to the characters.

Overall Grade

Overall this epsiode like the rest of the season is a big disappointment, There just isn't enough interesting going on to make this show one I really care about.

Overall Grade - D+

Champions League Round up - English Teams - Week 4

Champions League Round up - English Teams - Week 4

Image result for champions league So this week of the Champions League so it is time to look back on how the English teams fared against the best teams in Europe.

Red Star Belgrade 2-0 Liverpool

On paper this was a must win game for Liverpool, with Napoli and PSG in their group they needed to gain 6 points against Red Star. However, they were introduced to one of the most hostile environments a team can be subjected to. Jurgen Klopp decided to make numerous changes with fringe players such as Joel Matip, Adam Lallana and Daniel Sturridge getting a chance to impress but they were poor from the start and defeated by two goals from Milan Pavkov. With this defeat Liverpool's chance of progression has reduced significantly with games left against Napoli and PSG left to come. It is most likely that the finalists from last year are going to drop down into the Europa League after christmas.

Tottenham 2-1 PSV

Spurs are in a similar position to Liverpool as they have struggled in their group this season, this home game was crucial to giving them a chance to qualify from their group. So when PSV took the lead in the 2nd minute through a goal by former Newcastle striker Luuk De Jong things looked bleak for Spurs. But thanks to two late goals from Harry Kane they managed to turn it around and gain the 3 points. However, similar to Liverpool they have two tough games with Inter Milan and Barcelona and unfortunatly I think Spurs will join them in the Europa League after Christmas.

Man City 6-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

Man City have been the most dominant side in English football for a while now and now they are finally translating that form to the Champions League. Facing the difficult side of Shakhtar, Man City managed to score six goals in an impressive perfromance. Goals by David Silva, Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez and a hat trick by Gabriel Jesus put City pretty much in the next round. This game has one of the worst penalty decisions ever seen when Strerling tripped up but was given a penalty. I think Man City have to be considered one of the favourites for this competition.

Juventus 1-2 Man Utd

Juventus have been considered one of the favourites for the Champions League this season so with Man Utd travelling to Turin there wasn't much expectation on United to get a positive perfromance. United were playing pretty well until a world class finish from former Utd striker Cristiano Ronaldo put Juve into the lead. But after bringing on Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini the game was changed, Mata scored a great free kick and after a defensive mistake Alex Sandro scored an own goal to give United a famous victory. With this victory it is likely United will make the next round but won't be there at the later stage,

Overall it was a mixed week for the english teams in the Champions League but in Man City we have a team that is actually a contender to win the whole competition.

Why Rick Grimes was written off The Walking Dead the correct way

Why Rick Grimes was written off The Walking Dead the correct way (Spoiler Alert)

Image result for rick grimes  So this week Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes was written off the Walking Dead at his own request. After the events of episode 4 that left Rick severly wounded many predicted that we would see the death of the character in this episode, however, that wasn't the case.

Towards the end of the epsiode Rick lures the group of walkers to the bridge, where he destroys the bridge and the rest of the characters believe that he has been killed in the explosion. Later in the episode Anne finds Rick still alive, she manages to convince the people in the helicopter to pick up her and Rick.

Now I along with pretty much everybody else thought Rick was going to be killed off but I realise that if that had happened then that would have been a mistake. With Rick surviving it allows the possibility for Rick to return to the series on a later date with a new perspective.

Also after the episode it was announced there would be a trilogy of Walking Dead Movies starring Lincoln showing Rick's perspective which is great as it will provide a different change of pace to the show and give us answers to questions that the show introduced.

Overall I am not sure that The Walking Dead show can survive without Rick Grimes but I am actually excited to see what happens with the character and his future in this universe.

Arrow Season 7 Episode 3 - Crossing Lines - Review

Arrow Season 7 Episode 3 - Crossing Lines - Review

Image result for arrow season 7 episode 3 I have watched Arrow since the beginning and Overall I love this show, I must admit that it has had its highs and lows but over the six seasons I have really enjoyed Arrow. This season has done a very good job of following up from the crazy ending of season 6.

Positives

. I really enjoy the uniqueness of Oliver's story inside Slabside prison, seeing him have to deal with enemies that he has taken down as The Green Arrow is really interesting when you consider that the shifts of power has taken place inside the prison.

. Vinnie Jones and Michael Jai White as Brick and Bronze Tiger provide good performances that make this prison storyline more interesting then I thought it would be at the beginning of the season.

. Felicity and Renne do some questionable things in this episode which I liked as it shows how Oliver in prison is affecting the different team members and causing them to do things they usually wouldn't.

Negatives

. I wasn't very conviced by the Diggle and Lyla storyline in this episode, it felt really out of place with the episode and feels like an episode that would have taken place around Season 2 or 3 and feels like a real rehash.

. So far this season Ricardo Diaz and The Longbow Hunters have been in the background of the season and I feel with a returning villain they need to use him more and reveal his motivations.

. There is no flash forwards in this episode which is disappointing as I have found it to be the most interesting part of the season.

Overall Grade

Overall this is a pretty forgettable episode of Arrow with not much happening that I feel will affect the overall story of the season. For me this has easily been the weakest episode of the season.

The Walking Dead Season 9 Episode 5 - What Comes After - Review

The Walking Dead Season 9 Episode 5 - What Comes After - Review

Image result for the walking dead season 9 episode 5 So for the Forseeable future I will be reviewing the Walking Dead, I have watched the show from the very beginning and have ranged from loving the show to finding the show really boring. So far Season 9 has been a return to form and has been a great reinvention of the show, however, this epsiode has high expectations as it is Andrew Lincoln's final appearance on the show.

Positives

. To start off with Andrew Lincoln delivers a high quality performance, he totally delivers an emotional performance especially as it is his final episode. The way he is written off the show is handled very well but I will go into more depth with a spoiler post tomorrow.

. I really liked the surprise cameos that were used in this episode that mostly felt appropriate considering the historic nature of the episode.

. Also there was a great scene between Michonne and Maggie that really worked and played into the emotion that has played into there storyline over the last few seasons.

Negatives

. I wasn't a fan of the Maggie and Negan scene it came across as really forced, plus it made Negan seem really weak which is a waste of the last few seasons.

. Also the very ending of the episode leaves me with more questions then answers and I feel like it was a mistake.

Overall Grade

Overall, I really enjoyed this episode and felt it did a great job in saying goodbye to the most iconic character in this franchise. However, I am worried for the future of this show and am not sure it can keep up this momentum

Grade - B+

Why Liverpool will not win the Premier League Title 2018/2019

Why Liverpool will not win the Premier League Title 2018/2019
Image result for liverpool football club   Since the Transfer Window closed many fans have said that Liverpool are genuine Title Contenders this season including myself. However, despite there strong start I have seen 5 reasons why Liverpool will come short in their pursuit of the Premier League Title.

1. Lack of squad depth

As seen this season in both the Carabao Cup and the Champions League this Liverpool team struggle when their strongest 11 aren't on the pitch. Players like Dejan Lovren, Alberto Moreno and Adam Lallana are decent players but are not good enough to come in for an extended run and keep them at the top of the league. Compared to Manchester City their strength in depth is still lacking to ensure a title victory.

2. Lack of firepower

The majority of the time the teams that win the premier league title have top strikers but also goals from all around the team. Whether it be Lampard for Chelsea, Giggs for United or Toure for City these teams had goals from their midfield and even their defence. I believe liverpool lack this as if Firminio, Mane and Salah don't score they lack another player who will score a goal in a crucial moment.

3. Lack of Killer Instinct

This has been the biggest change from last season, the front three were ruthless in front of goal and punished any team in the league. However, this season they just look like some of their confidence has gone missing and that clinical edge has disappeared from their game.

4. Lack of experience

In this Liverpool team there is very little experience in wiining trophies. To go through a 38 game season with the other competitions there is immense pressure on Liverpool to win a trophy especially the Premier League. These players have high quality but they do lack the experience it takes to go all the way and win a title.

5. Lack of Trophies

Over the Jurgen Klopp era Liverpool have played great football that has been rightly prasied. However, there has been a lack of trophies. They lost a Europa League, Carabao Cup and Champions Legaue final in his time at the club and that has to have a psychological impact on the players at the club.

Overall

Liverpool will be in the Top Four this season I have no doubt about that, But I just feel due to these factors that they will miss out on the Premier League Title.
